Amazon Cancels California Associates Due To New Tax Law

Controversial New State Tax Law

Tax LawCalifornia Governor Jerry Brown signed a new tax law into effect which imposes the collection of taxes from consumers on sales by online retailers. Online retail giant Amazon.com sent out an email to all Associates stating that Judge Brown might sign legislation into effect which would tax all California-based marketing affiliates and even individuals who have no physical presence in the Golden State. A follow up email was sent shortly after stating the legislation was signed and effective immediately all California contracts would be cancelled.

New California Tax Law For Online Retail

Many claim that certain large retailers backed the bill to harm their competitors, many of whom are based in other states. Many CA residents make their entire living off affiliate marketing, which is widely regarded as an excellent way for the average Joe or stay-at-home mom to make passive income.
